New XP 4.5 Arrives

The UPS truck came today and left me a new XP 4.5. Looks great so far but I have not unpacked it. The carbon fuse is so light its unbeleavable. The vertical tail looks kinda short compaired to the others but what do I know. I will be using an Electron 6 receiver with the case removed a set of D60's in the wings but I am unsure what I want to use in the fuse. Anyone interested in a build thread.

I heard about this Polecat skunkworks project from an insider in the organization whom shall remain anonymous. Affirmative on the building thread, post pictures as you progress, curious minds need to know what this is all about. I hear it comes with small bladders installed in the wings which you pump Helium into?

Can you weigh the individual components prior to starting the build? Would love to see pics to see what's changed.

Are the guy who showed up out at sixtey acres last sat. I'm the guy who had the
XP4 almost XP4.5 with the old wing but new boom and tail group .I ended up using
a JR241 mg for the elevator, a D40 for the rudder, a JR shrickwrap 6 channel RX,
a 220 pack ,a switch jack ,I reinforced the tail feathers with carbon toe and rod stock,
and only 2 of the four cells even went up passed the canopy opening.I'm loving the kit
I managed about 10 1/2 oz.

Here's a pick of the fuse if anyone gives a rip I hid the D40 away with my cloak of
invisablity. The servos and cells are on a carbon rod with a tab on the end that lets you remove the innerds, and the RX is on velcro. If I didn't
have this 241 mg problem it would be alot lighter, it's a sickness I just can't stop myself
I sit up all night with a 241 in one hand and a bottle of CA in the other.I put them in the wing also I feel so filthy.

Here's the part that is truly XP4.5 or at least part of the part that is the little spaceship on the horz. stab. is my means of determining which stab. goes to which ship. it's alot easier for me to draw spacemen than it is to spell.

XP4 Build

I am currently finishing up putting together my first composite DLG, the XP4.. also have a Taboo GT in the box. I took some pictures today of the tails installed. Personally I like the shapes of the XP4 tails rather than the new ones..
My model looks like it will weigh in at 9.1oz; that is if it balances at the right place at that weight.. if not I'm sure I won't need to add any more than a 1/4oz to the nose..

I hope the pictures aren't too big.

That's pretty easy on the eyes there FlyDlg person, in comparision my ship has some major crustiness going on . I used to be a professional model maker for electronic equip. medical equip., prostetic feet and the like. I blaming my lack of attention on my seven month old , and airtime fever .I've got a pretty decent flying feild right out my back door also.
The more I think about it here, I might never be able to do a decent kit again.

Ploof Yes I am the one who met you at 60 acres.
ClayH here are the numbers I have so far

The fuse with the pushrods and the tail mount = 1.8 oz
The raw tail fins = .4 oz
Each wing half = 2.0 oz
Misc parts = .2 oz
2 JR 241 servo's = .65 oz
2 D60 servo's = .7 oz
mini jack switch = .2 oz
370 mah nimh 4 cell battery = 1.1 oz
Total of all above 9 oz.
That leaves just 1.5+- oz for the receiver, wing servo wiring harness, servo mounting, the throughing peg and the glue for the wing joining
Once I get to building some of the above numbers for the radio equipment will be less as the wires are shortend

Thanks Denny and Ploof.
One thing I did not like when I installed the stabilizer is that it doesn't look like enough throw, not as much as the rudder at least.. maybe I will drill another hole in the horn for later adjustment. I will post more pictures tomorrow when I get done with the wing servos. Hopefully I can fly this great model on Sunday after all this rain we've been having all week goes away.
In case you're wondering about my choice of gear on this model:
D47s in the pod.
D60s in the wing.
450mAh 2cell LiPo.
Eflight 5V uBEC.
JR 6ch RX shrinkwrapped.
Music wire antenna.
JR 8103 Radio.
