78% 3dbatix's Extra 330

Got some depron yesterday. Resized the plans to get a 28" wing span for the nice Extra 330 from 3dbatix.com. It's my first time having to cut my own plane. A lil harder than I expected, but very rewarding. Specialy if she doesn't die during the maiden.

Weight so far, with 3 servos mounted, is 4oz. I'm expecting a AUW of 6-7oz. Eletronics will be:

- GBx1 23T/26agw motor (this one pulls 15oz with a 8x4DD )
- GWS 8x4DD or 9x5DD prop
- PHX-10
- 3s 640mah pack
- 3 S3108 servos
- RF156 rx

I have to paint the bottom of my mini 3dx. The light shines through the wings and I can see the decals and colors from the top of the wing. I take it the testors is foam safe!

They won't deliver the amps I need. The pack I got is the Electrifly 640mah 15C. My system's pulling ~8.5amps with a 9x5DD.

Ben-Rod, airmcn_3,

Thank you guys.

Nice Job!

I have been considering doing almost the exact same thing for when my Yak-54 shocky dies. I will be watching this to see how you like yours.

Right now I am finishing up a larger Edge 540 conversion (inspired by Ben-Rod) of those plans that has been on the side burner for a while.

Dang. When I saw the 78% I thought you meant 78% of full scale!

Looks good.

ROFL. Sorry for the confusion, bro.

3Dnobody,

Thank you.

Almost done. Just got a few remaining parts in the mail. Motor is up. Now, I'm setting up control rods.

Thank you. Just checked weight. AUW is 8.5oz. A lil heavier than I expected, but below the 10oz mark, just like I wanted.

Man, this plane is soooooooooooo sweet!!!

I always get scared on maiden flights, but all went well. This lil plane rocks. The most stable plane I've ever had...even thou it's the 3rd different model.

Throws are set at 2" for all controls. Hovering and harriers are nice, snap rolls are a breeze. Only thing I "don't like" is the fact I am learning rolling harriers, but the roll rate is so fast, I can't keep up. I did a quick flight, 'cause I had to pick the boy at school. Still gotta trim her, thou. It's kinda windy outside and I'll wait until tomorrow morning to do that.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I used 6mm for all parts in this plane.
