Dassault Super Etendard build thread


This new thread about an exotic jet (for U.S), the Dassault Super Etendard.
They served in French Navy since 1978, and bombed Bekaa in Lebanon in 1983, Yugoslavia and Bosnia during the 90's, and now Talibans in Afganistan.
Of course, they served gloriously in Argentina's Navy during the Falklands War when they sank destroyer HMS Sheffield and freighter Atlantic Conveyor With Exocet missiles.

This little parkjet, powered with feigao 4100kv and 3 cells lipo 700 or 850mA, is entirely depron made
Let's see how to build it ; pics are better than speaking...

Super Etendard build thread


Some specs :
Length : 785 mm / 30,9"
Wingspan : 575 mm / 22;6"
Weight : +:- 220g / 7,74oz
Radio : 3 servos (2 for ailerons, 1 for elev)

Building rear fuselage : -Glue formers on the bottom view of mid fuselage (cut out of 3mm depron)
-Glue the sheet (3mm bent depron) on formers.

Interesting project! I like it. Are you also planning to add the 'hook' under the fuselage to make the landing shorter? Imagine you land the plane on a ping-pong table like on a carrier!

Then, glue formers of top fuse on the other side and assemble elev. servo.
At the same time you glue the fuse up sheet, cut depron from the view of mid fuse and formers for lightness.

I tested it for you on my Breguet 1050 Alizé, but it was not to land on table-tennis.

Super Etendard build thread


Tail cone will be ende later, just after glueing fin.
Fin is cut out of 6mm depron. Mechanism for elevator is made of 0,4 and 1mm plywood.

Super Etendard build thread


Elevator : Depron 3mm, balsa 3mm and 0,4mm plywood. In fact, light 3 mm balsa is better for the elev.

Super Etendard build thread


Wings :
Cut intrados and extrados out of 3mm depron.
Glue 2mm balsa spar on the intrados and then the extrados.

No it was built in 3 ...evenings because i often work during the night i was in the Army before (Firemen of Paris) and i get used not to sleep a lot. It's the same thing in my new job, in the Senate...
