Removing latex "house paint" from a foam model

I just purchased <being shipped to me as we speak> a used Sureflite P-39. The model was painted about 2 years ago with latex house paint. I have no idea if it was thinned or not.

The color doesn’t agree with me so I’m looking to strip it down. How tough is this stuff and can I most likely sand it off without damage to the foam? Or is it water based and “wash off”?

Try to use sticky tape first - apply and peel off with the paint - on some models - like Acrobipe works very well.
Good luck,

Removing Latex Paint

If it won't peel off - try "Goof Off 2". This product will remove dried latex paint, but be sure to use the Goof Off 2 - regular Goof Off will melt foam.

Good Luck -

Thanks much. The tape idea is a good one.

So is the stripper. Now that I think of it I posted about doing just that with a EPP model here on RCGroups not too long ago :

Thanks for the heads up to test it first against some scrap foam!

Many latex paints will lift if left under water for a spell. Denatured alcohol also can sometimes work.
