ARK X-400 VS Trex 450 XL for newbie

Hi. Just been through lots of threads about Trex 450XL and X-400 seperately, but I need some one vs the other opinions.

I'm totally new to helicopter flying, so pardon my stupid questions, bad english (I'm danish) etc. .

I'm down to choosing between these two. But to my questions:

- Should I get the HDE or CDE model, if I choose the T-rex?
- Is the X-400 same quality as the Trex? It's a lot cheaper!
- Prices I found is 650$ for Trex, incl. Hitec Optic 6 radiocontroller and some spareparts. X-400 at 450$, same radiocontroller. Is the T-rex worth the extra $?

Both are RTF (has to be, since I dont think I have the patience for assembling it myself. I know that I will be doing some repairwork)

Is it allowed to post links to the exact models at the shop?

Hope you can help...

If you can find the X400 with the exact same equipment for $200 cheaper than the XL, get the X400. The X400 also has a full Carbon Fiber ECCPM frame set including an aluminum swash for only $70 if you decide to upgrade later, and your still $130 under the XL price. The XL is a great heli, BUT not worth nearly $200 more IMO>

If you get the X400, you will get something not to many people have. Must be a reason for that. You can by the XL for 193. The X 400 is 139. That is only 54 dollars. New parts for the Trex come out all the time. I would folllow the masses on this one.

the x400 was released at the wrong time, the 450XL put it in the backseat. i guess ARK recently just started picking up the pace. the x400 is not a trex killer, but it's a very similar heli for a cheaper price and a couple perks. id say it became a worthy competitor after all.

new parts are coming out for the x400 not that it needs any (the ones that are out are far cheaper than Trex parts...i think align is going to release a fully blinged trex out of the box). im pretty sure the most improved version of the x400 will fly just as well or better than a new 450XL especially if you get the CCPM pro version for like $165.

if you really wanted to put trex bling on the x400 you could, because the two heli are very similar (there's no reason to do this now other than blade grips). everything in the tail swaps, the head assembly can be swapped. personally i use trex 305 blades, stretch kit, and the XL tail pitch slider on my own x400. major mechanical differences are basically in the frame and gear teeth/diameter.

these arent exactly RTF combos, but youll get the idea.

the improved version supposedly fixes the x400's short comings. the tail blades, landing gear (ive never had any problems with mine), out of round maingear (trex is prone to the same problem).

Looks good.

Some comments on the T-rex, please.

And.......... where can I find the shop with the best price?

And, and........ Is it possible for a total beginner like me to assemble a kit from scratch without having to consult others?

i had a x400 i found the plastic very low grade and brittle i i cannablised it for my trex cde xl and it im still have not damaged it after about 40 hard landing xl is much much better plastic no doubt and the feathing shaft is much stronger my x400s feath shaft would bend if i look at it funny x400 skids are a joke and my x400 main parts dealer was really crap and expensive the rotor head is crap compared to the xl if you get a x400 u will end up buying trex bits for it loads of them .
BIG TIP Build it yourself because u will understand better how it works and how to fix it when u need to.
Helicopters are 90% setup 10% flying u must understand How its setup if its your first i would get the hde version because the cde is harder to setup for a first heli

GrandRC. 266 dollars for the combo. It is the one I have. I have about 30 flights on mine. Flys nice. I set it up with no Cp experience. Not to hard. I would recommend the TP 2100 mah Pro lite over the 2000 Pro lite. 15 C verses 12 C. And get the the 35 amp ESC. No other upgrade parts are needed.
