Just Got my first look at the GWS Tiger Moth-Small battery compartment!

Since I just finished my Litestick, I decided to take a peak at my new GWS Tiger Moth, my LHS had a sale of $49.95 on these so I got one for my next project. Wow! that battery compartment has a real small opening!
I can se why they recommend using the little 6-cell 110 Mah Pack. Either I am going to have to do some serious foam carving or I am going to have to get some different Battery Packs because mine ain't gonna fit!
Have any of you guys done any fom carving or are you trying to stay with the little 110Mah packs that GWS recommends?

Used both a 180 8 cell and a 6 cell 270....carved the area out. No problem, but plane flies better on 7 or 8 cells.

I bought one of these, that battery compartment is small!! I will have to find a way to make it look nice, because I certainly dont want to have to take the wing off every time I change. I will be able to fly it next weekend for the first time.

"Simplify, then add lightness"
I have mine carved out to 1 3/8 inches wide and 5/8 inched deap with no problems. I also cut out the front end of the battery compartment to allow more airflow thru the cowling. I have had two bad crashes doing loops and flying inverted too close to the ground, and have had no fuselage damage. I use velcro to hold the batteries in.
