825 V 750 Engel tank

Hi
I put in the 825 tank because I could.
The metal mech tray allowed the bigger tank to fit.
I use the extra tank capacity to set the boat perfectly on the waterline without messing with lead ballast.
I can allso take the boat right under , or any level I want as the tank is fully preportional.

From what I have read the 750 is perfectly ok fpr static dive ,but the bigger capacity just gives me more flexibillity.

i have read that the 75 was not big enough and the consequence is that the boat wasn't perfectly on the waterline

Hi
You may be right.
But I think that the 75 is the biggest you can get in with the standard plastic tray.
I used an aftermarket metal tray which has lots of room for an 825 tank.
Regards.

Working torpedo setup

I have finally managed to fit in my version of airbrush proppelant powered torps.
The torps are alloy tube with alloy valves for filling and ptfe noxxle at rear.
I was going to use a valve arrangement but tried the pin method first , it works fine for me.
Torps are fitted with the pins ang given a liquid charge.
Pushed down the tubes and the pins clipped onto the servo links , ready to go.
I used a Futaba servo , warerproofed with epoxy and a viton "o" ring under the servo arm, Seems to work fine.

Fired the system on dry land and the torps exit the tubes with quite some speed.

Torps tested in circular test pool ran for arround 15 seconds on a liquid charge.

All that remains now is to test the whole plot in the local pool , when I get the chance.
I will try to get some pictures of the event.

Well when I say finished , I meen until I work out how to actuate the bow doors and fit a carbon dioxide system to fire the tubes.

I spent days putting the rivet and weld details on the hull , as it looked just too smoothe and uninteresting.

I have taken some shots of how I packed all the radio and stuff into the watertight compartment.

Comments please, especially from anyone who has fitted working tubes to one of these boats.
Stupid question. Why does your U-47 look so much different on the inside than my U-47?

Hi
If you read the text on my posting , you will see I have used an aftermarket mech tray and Engel piston tank to give static dive.
I assume your u47 is standard.

Hi
Of course you can use whatever voltage you want if you use seperate cellpacks for the drive motors and radio/piston tank.

Hi
No, I used 9.8 volts fordrive and 6 volts for radio and tank, as that was all the cells I could fit in. It was getting a little cramped in there.
