Micro Brushless Mini Sport

This project is just about taking shape, so I decided to post it here. It's Dave Robelen's Mini Sport using our Micro BL motor 10/3/26Y motor.

Specs:

2mm Depron throught, airbrushed using acrylic paints.
EPP and CF wheels and Landing Gear.
Mighty Midget single stack, single cell 10/3/26Y motor, Bob Selman's excellent motor mount

1S Kokam 145 Lipo

Prop: Not sure right now, but intend to use an MCF 4*3 prop.

RX: DU RX-101

ESC: Microbatics BLC-1

Twin Tadpole actuators delivering around 3 gm cm of torque. Each actuator weighs 0.75gms mounted remotely.

Projected AUW: Looks like it's going to be within 24gms

I still need to mount the rudder actuator in place, and glue the nose piece and windshield. I've attached some pictures. I'll post this in the Working Micro BL model thread as soon as I get to complete and fly it.

Hey Uttam, nice model! But I see you've been inspired by my old wheel design! But the original design (influenced by the Flintstones) looked this way:

jberg ,
Is that a BUMP with tundra tires?

Uttam,
I like the old timer look to that plane! I guess cause I'm close to an oldtimer myself.

Mike,

no, that's a non-profile Guided Mite, made from 3mm Depron using the original Guided Mite plan by Ralph Bradley. It was my first real (sub-ounce) microflyer, finished exactly 3 years ago. It flew like a charm but was eaten in flight by a Drenalyn long time ago. See the whole story here.

Ah, yes now that I see the different views and look a bit closer it does have very different lines and layout, I still like the tundra tire look.

Thanks guys!

Jochen, OK, I give up. Your wheels look way more flintstonish than mine I remember reading about it, and it's mishap. Didn't you convert that to a profile GM sometime?

I wanted to keep the wheels light, they came in at 0.2gms each.

Mike, I liked the looks too. All of Dave's planes look great, a must build IMHO.

I hope to get her done this week, and have some video.

completed. AUW 23.2gms with a Kokam 145mah Lipoly cell

Here's the completed plane. I hope to fly it as soon as the depression here clears up. I still need to fill in the sides of the nose and touch it up a bit.

AUW turned out to be 23.2gms, with the heavyish 1.2gm prop. With the MCF 4*3 prop, weight should be down a gram or so. I have 1:1 thrust to weight on this

Hi all,

We have some video, and I had to compress it a fair bit ( the original was 300MB ) to get it to upload here ( <10MB ). Here's the link to the videos:

https://www.rcgroups.com/gallery/sho...cat=500&page=1

And here's a video with just one ROG, it takes off great! Plenty of power, even with the 4*2.5 prop. I cant wait to try a 5*3 prop The RX had glitching problems, and a center loaded antenna has brought that somewhat under control.

Hope you like it!

Video looks great!

Where do I get the motor and speed controller you're using? You mentioned a "DU" rx. Does "DU" stand for "Dynamics Unlimited"?

The motor is a 1 cell WYE motor, 10/3/26S available from Bob Selman Designs http://www.bsdmicrorc.com

The ESC is from slowfly.com, and so is the RX. Yes, DU stands for Dynamics Unlimited.

We manufacture the brushless motor.
