Pat Tritle's Fairchild 24

There's a good construction article and plans offer in May 2002 Flying Models for Pat's 60" wingspan Fairchild 24 R. I have had hundreds of graceful scale-like ROG and hand-launched flights with my Comet 54" Aeronca Chief with rudder/ elevator/esc on geared 6v S400 and 8 or 9 500AR's total weight 30 oz. The Fairchild at 23 ounces and more wing area should be even more graceful and you can beef it up a little while keeping it a floater.

Old design

I was/am interested in the Fairchild 24 and contacted
Pat about the design in Flying Models.

He designed this airplane at least three years ago
and submitted the construction article to FM. They
just now got around to publishing it.

You can get the plans for the airplane from Pat on
his web site as well as a 48" version of the Fairchild.

The 48" version was also designed for the speed 400
and geardrive but Pat says it flys better with a 280
and gear drive.

I'm building the Fairchild from Pats plans, so far I've got the tail feathers and the fuse sides done, so far so good. I don't have a lot of time so its going to take me awhile, the size is what got my gears turning on this plane, its also a good looker. Any one else building it?

48 incher coming

I ordered Pat's plans for the 48"
(Wanted a little "handier" size.

Also got one of Pat's Panther Kits. This looks
like a great little airplane for a 400 DD. Not
a bad price either. Said Jim Ryan's warbird
construction methods influenced the design
and construction.
