Question

GWS Pico moth prop question

So I got a IPS DX2BB-CXCS motor for my pico moth
which weights around 6 oz. That is a C gear.
I am using a 7.4 Volt 250 mAh ETEC battery.

The GWS website says to use a GWS EP 1260 PROP.
It's HUGE! When the plane is on the ground the prop hits the
ground instead of the front wheels.
I must be using the wrong prop.

What prop should I be using?
I tried a 9070 and it flew but not much power.

Maybe I got the wrong motor for my plane?

Please help.

Correct motor gearbox is an AXCs which has a ratio of 5.9:1 whereas the CXCS you have has a ratio of around 8:1. My stock TM flies fine with either a 9x7 or 10x4.3. At 8:1 your 9070 is just not spinning fast enough. HTH

Thanks Mr Lin!

I'm going to "brown nose".
GWS ROCKS! Really good solid planes.

Well I had a blown up IPS A gear assembly that I was able to use the big gear and motor out of. Man never throw anything away!
Hopefully my pico moth will be back up in the air tomorrow!

The Tigermoth is a great Isp Plane I have converted all mine Moths over to use lipo battery packs a 2 cell 7.4 volt 1200 pack will kep your Tigermoth in the air for allmost 1 hour with throttle managment.

you you can get a bunch of 10 minute flights out of one pack!

now if you have 2 or 3 packs you can fly all day!

I fly I think with a ep1080 prop on mine most of the time with good results.

I also make all my servo holders out of epp foam for the inside guts real easu and adds no weight.

Took my pico moth out this morning.
IPS A drive and a 9070 prop 250 mAh ETEC lipo. It flew.
Didn't climb like when I first put it together.
Pretty much flew full throttle the whole time.
Tried to get it pretty high so I could do some stunts.
It said NO WAY!

Weighs around 6.5 ounces.
Been in alot of wrecks. Glued back up alot.
Is that heavy?

Is it on the heavy side?

I'm at 7.2oz WITHOUT battery - its my 1st TM so learnt lots. Etec450 3S makes it 8.5oz.
Will be using an HD9050 prop as I'm running a 3S battery.
