Very nice. With the painted cowl it looks better than the one in the Ebay pic. Looking forward to your flight report.

Ebay Spitfire maiden flight.
AUW = 1240grams with 8cell GP2200mah.
CG =75mm.

Arrived at club earlier this morning, not to many folks there.Weather overcast and moderately gusty winds
Handlaunched spit myself, full power and straight up it flew with the wind.Got it back under control and flew circuits to trim.Gusty winds made it
difficult ,but not much trim needed for level flight.
Flies nicely and cruises just right on 1/2 to 2/3 throttle, the Axi motor runs and sound superb
The landing was straightforward enough, after final just line up into wind easing of power.Plane nestles in evenly and slides to stop, perfect
The second flight even better.
This Ebay Spitfire is A0K with me.
Tally ho chaps

Congrats on the successful maiden. I think I may have to bid on it again but from the vendor in Hong Kong instead of the US.

I favour handlaunch, but theres no holes or slots provided.
So i copied a picture from >New Ripmax Spitfire< thread and fabricated my own.Works a treat.

Heres another assembly tip.
The front corners of the motor mount were sanded for the cowl to be positioned correctly.Too easy

I won an auction for one from California but they don't ship to Hawaii. I don't know what's up with that, I got a 120 Spit shipped from the connus and they can't even ship a small plane.
Anyhow, I'll probably pass on this. I'm looking for a jet that'll take a Midi size fan.

Freebird, I received mine a few days ago and just finished outfitting it. The build quality is good, not top notch but quite nice. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to maiden it until next week (assuming the weather permits, not a given around Boston, MA).

I'm using the following:

Apache 30M-18T outrunner

APC 10x5E (to start with, it's all I had. I'm guessing a little higher pitch and maybe a little smaller diameter will be a better fit in the end)

4s Polyquest 2200N lipos

CC Phoenix25 ESC

ParkBec (I learned the hard way on a Kamdax MiG that 4s really stress the Pheonix25 battery eliminator. The ParkBec solved that problem cheaply and easily.)

2- BlueBird 371 servos for aileron (I wanted to use spoilerons to cut the glide since the available fields are a little small. The 2 servos together fit the width of the existing space perfectly. Just need a little modification for the shorter length. We'll see if they have enough torque for the job soon but it looks OK.

2- BlueBird 380 for rudder and elevator

No main gear or tailwheel. Grass fields only around here.

AUW - 1034 gm (36.5 ounces)

Good on ya dpaul, sure turned out to be very light AUW did you have trouble with balance CG? Thats a pretty awesome battery pack 4S=14.8V youll be cruising round at 1/3 throttle.Looking forward to your first flight reports.

Im still on a high after last weeks flights. This is my first warbird other than a Robbe ME109 that kept tipstalling and crashing.

Hopefully ill get to fly the Spitfire again tomorrow

Got a few flights in what was a sunny, almost tropical day
I learned 4 things about this Spitfire.

1...The covering bubbles up slightly around fuselage when left in the sun.My Ripmax Easystreet was next to it and was fine.

2...Well i was testing how the Spit was like at continuous tight turns when it tip stalled.I was 2 mistakes high fortunately. But its a real nasty stall ,bites hard.

3...On this calm day the Spit just did not want to come down, twice i had to walk the end of runway. One flight i forcefully flew Spit into ground a little to hard and fractured cowl.

4...Need to enlarge cooling holes.

Spitfire still flies great, though im a little bit humbled by todays lessons.
