Hi - I am new to building and wish to build a paragon 3m sailplane from scratch . I have the plans from outer one but I would like to follow an instruction manual
Can anyone perhaps share one by mail. ?

If you look up the Paragon on Outerzone, they have 2 articles which may or may not be useful. I haven't read them myself.

The article is the instructions for the RCM Paragon.
I do not know if there is any difference between the instructions in the article and the ones that came in the kit.

LVsoaring's build log linked by Makemfly is a great source of info to supplement the instructions . .

I have a Paragon kit and the instructions are the revised (1998 I think) version, including some minor structure and design changes, and instructions for spoilers and bolt-on wing options. I'm monstrously overworked this week but if you still think you need a manual I can get it to you maybe this weekend or next week. I'd have to take it into town to copy and send it, which shouldn't be too expensive. Alternatively I can send you photographs of the pages with my cell phone any time.

I seem to recall some people would sand in a little "Phillips entry" into the lower surface of the wing up front, though this might not be legal for nostalgia events, except maybe if you can find an old article?. There's a thread on "Philips entry" in the thermal section. The result would be a wider speed range, which is nice on breezy days or for escaping sink.

If I was making one, and I didn't think I'd ever fly a nostalgia event, I might change to a faster airfoil or airfoils. Maybe something from the "one stop shop" for Mark Drela's airfoils at charlesriverrc.org. Or maybe I'd use a Selig section, possibly the 3021.

If adding that entry to the airfoil void the design from being included that is dumb. Why is that a feature for disqualification?

Only for nostalgia events, for designs from before 1980.

You can sand how you want and no one is going to disqualify you at a Nostalgia event. A 1/16th or 1/32 here and there is no big deal. I would protest the protesters should this occur. Lucky to get 20 guys a the Nats, lest we squeeze everyone out of a “Fun” event.

Changing airfoils would not be permitted, however.

The original Paragon, The (Prototype) that Ed built had Phillips entry on the profile. This was the first 100" model and my No. 2, 100" model. Then he built a wing at 120" where he lengthened the tips without the Philips entry, added the rudder balance, and decided it floated further on final to landing, and froze the design.

Soooo, the prototype Paragon had a profile with Philips and the developed model (Kitted by Gene Walloch) did not. Both profiles should be ok.

Oh to be in Slobod's garage again.

I'm making the next version of mine over this year. It will have a tad entry, use new technology, longer tail moment and be the version Ed would drool over today. Long live Eddie : )

rer

I'm pretty sure it was more than 1/16". An AG-04 is just a Paragon airfoil with a lot of sanding. ;-)
