20th(!) Annual Electric Fly In, Sumner, WA June 29-30

Some adavance notice on the 20th Annual Puget Sound Electric Model Flyers' Electric Fly-In, to be held at the Radio Aeromodelers of Seattle (RAMS) flying field in Sumner, Washington (just a little ways south of Seattle) on June 29th and 30th.

This is the 19th year on the last weekend in June and the 3rd year at this flying site (the previous ones being at the Boeing Hawks' flying field in Kent which is now sadly part of an empty industrial park development).

As in prior years this is primarily an open fly-in though we will run, if there is enough interest, the customary one round of 7 cell Battery Allottment (AMA event 609) each day. This year we have sent invitations to the seven people who attended the first one in 1983 and have heard back from two who plan to be there (and I will be, of course, being the CD, just as I was then). I hope we'll have some sort of special presentation for those folks, and maybe some kind of commemorative item for each participant this year - as we're the first E-meet to actually make it to 20 years.

I'll post more info as the event gets closer. For location info, see the RAMS web site at http://www.homestead.com/rcrams/index.html There will be more event info there, too, eventually.

H2OFLY

bump ?! You OK, Bernard?

I doubt I will get up there...all I can do to get to Celebration of Silent Flight for one day!

I do wish you the very best - especially now that you have discovered the joys of flying welders

"bump" - as in "bump this thread back to the top". Saw it on a digital camera board...

What can you weld on 42A?

See you at Pine Hollow in July.

Never fear, Bernard, the "Dreaded Canadian Contingent" is amassing a convoy to invade Sumner as we speak! See you there.

Yes, I think so. I'm expecting to take the day off, so if you give me some sense of when you're likely to be there, I'll make sure the gates are open.....

Do you have a link to a Seattle area weather website? The forecast for the weekend is pretty miserable for us here in B.C.s Fraser Valley, 3 hours North of you, and I know we sometimes get hit by the same systems.

Benard,

Will it still be on if it rains?

If I make it there how can I find you?

Should I bring my Switchback and/or GYM-E ??

We will be there even in the rain - we'll only call if it's raining and blowing so that we just can't fly and there's no prospect of flying. The forecast is bad, but not that bad.

However, I doubt things will be suitable for the Gym-E based on what's on the Weather Service forecast right now..... but you can still bring it - I will bring mine.

See you there.

Sorry I didn't see this last night....

I use this one: http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/Seattle/ then click on the map near where we are (between Seattle and Tacoma).
