Question

Silver Pens on Plastic?

I'm looking to highlight some detail on a Guillows P38; can anyone provide success stories for using silver pens to apply to plastic such as the wheels and the boom guns? This would be a nice touch.

Some recommendations for a silver pen that works would be appreciated. Thanks!

What are "silver pens?" Amazon has lots of pens made of silver. Are you talking about Sharpies the have silver ink?

There are paint pens that you can get at stores or online.

If you can find them, the Testors/Pactra paint pens are paint applicators with a foam brush built in. They work okay for the ABS type plastic used in gummy band kits.

I don't recommend using Sharpies on ABS as it will rub off (at least, most of it will).

BTW, 'boom guns' on a P-38? The guns were in the nose pod, not the booms. Besides, don't most guns go "Boom"?

CD,

Maybe I need a P38 lesson...

For sure on the nose guns, there are dowels in the kit to use for those.

I'm referring to the object on top of the booms over the wing area. Have a look at the picture, they sure do look like guns.

I found an exploded view, this is the area where the supercharger and other related engine components are located.

A turbocharger is typically powered by a coaxial turbine in the engine exhaust.
A supercharger is typically powered by a mechanical connection to the engine crankshaft, or an electric motor.
