Howdy from IMAC, Mick

Yeah, CA was first intended to patch up small wounds, as opposed to sewing them up as normaly done. Vietnam era invention I belive. Nasty cut anyway, we've had a few guys do that here. One was through a tractor prop on a pylon model. The launch man's thumb slipped and went through the prop. Not pretty.

Let Brandon know I'm working in a hobby shop, and say hi to him for me.

Yikes! They heal quickly. I'm already on the road to recovery (i.e., growing back the missing chunk of my finger) from the utility knife injury I stupidly suffered Saturday while cutting Ultracote...

Som info on the use of cyanoacrylate glue to fix people up.

Quote from :

"Another interesting application is the use of cyanoacrylate to close wounds in place of stitches. Researchers found that by changing the type of alcohol in super glue, from ethyl or methyl alcohol to butyl or octyl, the compound becomes less toxic to tissue. With further research, the practice may become more widespread and could eventually replace the need for stitching up lacerations. "

That is, 'less toxic'.

With a boner like that, I would absolutely go see a doctor!

Best regards

That suxors! Hope you heal up quick, fingers usually do pretty well with bandages and whatnot but you might want to get some stitches for that bad boy.

Props are dangerous!!!

I use CA on most of my cuts these days. I find that they heal much
cleaner, without a scar, than having some sweaty bandaid over it
for a week. Also helps seal up painful punctures from cactus and
stops em from itching and such. I had a cactus needle get stuck under
the edge of one of my fingernails recently and after I finally dug it out,
the whole area was incredibly sensitive when touched. A little CA
made all the difference in comfort.

Instead of squirting the CA directly on the wound (which usually results in
it running all over my hand) I usually drip a drop of super thin on my glass
table and then simply touch that spot with the cut spot on my finger. Yes
you don't want to user kicker, but you do need to make it go off fairly quickly,
otherwise the blood from the cut will ooze out into the CA before it
cures which just looks nasty (still works though).

I had an index finger cut to the tendon while cutting some scrap foam to repair a wing.
It took 4 stitches and a tetnis shot to fix it up.
