Here are some photos of the S8E contest at the Great Lakes Cup held outside of Chicago last weekend.
There were 13 pilots, and a wide range of models, from older Cuda/Stingray ships to Raven style planes and even a few converted modern DLG models. We had 2 flight groups and lots of space for the landing area (which I wish I had taken a photo or two of after laying it out). I think this is now the largest turnout for an S8E event in the US.

Here is the link to the set of photos.

Nice to see a Space Modeling competition in US again. There are not so many.
Thank you Kevin.
I hope to see you, and colleagues in Slovakia.

You would have been a great addition. I'm glad Taras and Peter made the trip south. We had them, one competitor from India, and one from Bulgaria (by way of Maryland).

Here are a few recent videos- I suggest full screen and HD quality for best viewing.

Thanks KJ & iter for the vids. Its nice to see someone flying. I'm on hold for a little while. Please tell me how you guys got the vertical letter box in your vids. Sure hold the camera on its side but how to get it to display up and down rather than across?

that usually happens when one uses an Iphone to record video. The phone knows its magnetic orrientation and will record the video as such. most other devices default to horizontal.

I can see it being used well for a rocket launch video, but almost all other occurances of vertical video tend to be annoying when viewed on any other device besides the device it was recorded on.

After you upload your video of a rocket taking off sideways to youtube you can edit it from the video manager. One of the options under the enhancements choice is to rotate the image.
