Realistic Looking Seagull RC Model

This is fantastic! PlanePrint has plans for this realistic looking Seagull model that can be made as a pure glider for slope soaring or to include an EDF unit for propulsion. It looks amazing as you can see in the video below. It's their second realistic bird model after the popular Eagle. The EDF version is cool because there isn't a prop sticking out to ruin the illusion that it's a real bird. The air inlets and outlets are very inconspicuous and hardly visible in flight, especially from the ground looking up. What do you think about the Seagull?

Specifications:

  • Wingspan: 1500 mm (59 inches)
  • Flight weight: glider 436g, EDF 560g
  • Wingload: 17g/dm2 (Glider) or 21g/dm2 (EDF)
  • 3 or 4 channel
  • Motorization: EDF 40 mm, 2S
  • Material: LW-PLA120g/PLA130g/TPU5g
  • Printer space of 200x200x200 mm (cube) needed!

The EDF version would might make a good thermal soarer, Power up, shut down the EDF and thermal.

Very nice. I've wanted to design an EDF bird myself but I might just get this later instead.

I need help from my edf brothers who are educated in this kind of printing tech as I am not. is this a 3d printed model or simple plans on paper? I have always wanted one of these realistic birds to fly but dont understand the tech

What is being sold are STL files that allows you to print the parts on a 3D printer (and then glued together to form the seagull). The STL files are "instructions" to the 3D printer on what and how to print. It is not plans on paper where you can build it out of balsa (for example).

Very well said MK. Troy McMillan has multiple YouTube videos on PlanePrint 3D planes. His 20+ videos on 3D plane printing are pretty darn cool and he explains things in a simple way, not talking over your head, so it makes watching and learning interesting. If you like the Seagull you will love his videos on putting together the Eagle from PlanePrint.
