Chart seems incorrect

How can the Solite Solarfilm weight more than the Monokote (2.1 oz per sq yd vs 1.8 oz per sq yd)????

huh?!
I didn't see Solarfilm on either of those pages. Figured it was newer and the pages were old.

Check a 3rd time
Oh there it is right at the bottom. 2.1 does sound wrong. Everyones always raving about how light it is. MonoKote is tough and heavy.

The value for Solarfilm seems right to me...

What is missing from the chart is Solarfilm - SOLITE which most of us are using for our parkfliers.

Can someone point me in the direction of an article, or just tell me, how to cover a foam plane, a formosa actually, with monokote. Im not worried about weight, Ill have a Razor 2500 in it. I would like to cover it for strength and would like a checkered patter on the underside of the wing. I just dont understand what you tack the covering to without melting foam.

Covering weights

I made up an excel spreadsheet that lets you drop in your wing, fuselage and tailfeather dimension and it will calculate the weights of solite, econokote etc. If anybody wants it, drop me an e mail and I'll send it to you.

Speed,

The Monokote, formosa thread is cool, but why bother covering your Formosa with a heavy covering film.

Try the alternative. Nelson Solite film

Here's another list of weights for finishes - and it covers the lighter end of the spectrum: http://www.homefly.com/ (see the 'mylar coverings' tab).

i think we need the so-lite name issue cleared up, in the uk the full name is "SolarFilm Lite" not so-lite or
nelsons solite or even SolarFilm-SoLite. If someone in the US could give the Full proper US name to
finally clear this misunderstanding up

This "webpage.charter" chart is ridiculous.

The homefly page is far more accurate (and I've checked their weights myself).

homefly gives:

Nelson Film = SoLite = LiteFILM @ 20g/sq.m

Solarfilm (Airspan) @ 23g/sq.m

Solarfilm (Litespan) @ 29g/sq.m

Solarfilm (standard) @ 42g/sq.m

TopFlite (transparent MonoKote) @ 57 g./sq.m

TopFlite (opaque MonoKote) @ 75g/sq.m

Now those are all numbers I have verified, and which I can live with.

Cheers, Phil
