Anyone cutting blue fan fold or depron with a cnc router? Which style of cutter are you using? speeds and feed rates would be apprecitated.

I keep getting rough edges from the film that is on the blue fan fold.

One of our clubmembers is trying to. Make sure that the bit is not spinning too fast. The depron will melt and clogg up your bit.

Sorry guys,

This cnc machine was build a couple of weeks ago by a fellow clubmate. He did it on low budget. Most expensive stuff was the controller and steppers. Rest of the cutter was made of scrap. He even used gears from some used up tonercartridges !

It works pretty well, ive seen the results. The machine cuts precise to 0.01mm. It was not hard to build (at least he put it together in just a couple of days) It is slow though, the steppers he used lack power and are only usable with gearing. Still, he surpised me with it and it just works !

Here's the original thread (in dutch) . You might contact him via pb on our mssgboard. (spaan14)

We cut depron and FFF on cnc router. Use a small circuit board endmill and spin it as slow as possible and move as fast as possible (low speed, high feed). Make sure your CEL (cutting edge length) is long enough that it's the cutting edge and not the shank that's cutting the film on FFF.
