Morning!
Yesterday was another fun day at the indoor arena in Paris, Ont. On my initial flight, I forgot to use full flaps on the Timber, so it got a head of me which resulted in a less than perfect landing....can you say "Kabonk!" It looked okay, I just had to reattach the landing gear. On the second attempt, I did manage to take it up with the flaps in full down position. I find it causes just enough drag to slow the plane down to my level of flying. After I changed the battery, I noticed after rebinding, the rudder was going over hard right! Grrrh! I decided to err on the side of caution and put it back in its storage box. After I arrived home, I decided to tear it all apart to see what the issue was and I found it! That hard landing had cracked the bottom of the front section of the foam fuselage. You couldn't really see it unless you applied pressure and then it would open up! Also, the "all in one brick" had been jarred loose from it's mounting. So when I grabbed the battery connection wire, it pulled on the brick and further put the rudder our of alignment! I tried some foam friendly CA to tack the board back down....we will see if it holds. HH uses some kind of soft caulking like material to originally glue it down. I repaired the cracked fuse and taped over it for extra strength. I'll find out next week if the repairs were successful. Cheers! Lyle |
