Has anyone ever heard of a HS-80 servo?

I have 2 of them and they look exactly like a HS-81 in fact thats what i thought they were until i saw the writing where a HS-81 says HS-81 these say HS-80. I have never seen these up until now or ever heard of them. Anyone Know anything about them?

The HS-81 replaced the HS-80. Not major change, no worries.

Hitec HS-80
The HS-80 has been replaced by the HS-81, but we still have a small number in stock. We've used the HS-80 for years as our standard servo for most soaring and electric flight applications and it has been flawless. Frankly, we don't know why Hitec replaced it. The HS-80 measures about 1.1" x .5" x 1.1" and weighs only .62oz. At 4.8V its power output is 31 inch/ounces of torque with a speed of .15 seconds for 60 degrees of rotation. It is available with your choice of JR/Hitec, Futaba J, and both old and new Airtronics connectors.

Hitec HS-80, Specify connector type. While supplies last.
$19.95

Hitec HS-81
The HS-81 is the replacement for the HS-80. It's specifications are very similar and it's only slightly more expensive. We recommend it for any application where you need a little more power and can live with a little more size and weight compared to the HS-55 or HS-60. The HS-81  measures about 1.2" x .5" x 1.27" and weighs only .6oz. At 4.8V its power output is 38 inch/ounces of torque with a speed of .10 seconds for 60 degrees of rotation. It is available with your choice of JR/Hitec, Futaba J, and both old and new Airtronics connectors.

Thanks for the reply. This is what i thought had happend. The HS-80`s i have are great except that i have stripped the gears. I gather they take the same gears as the 81`s?

No, I have HS-80 and stripped the gears. I thought that the HS-80 using same gear replacement part but a guy at Hobbypeople said to use different one, HS- 101 gear replacement part something like that. That worked. So when you buy one ask them and get right one.

HS80 and HS101 use the same gearset, the HS81 use a different set and is therefore not interchangeable with the HS80/101.

I have some of these servos too, as well as the HS-101's. The best place I've found to get new sets is Servo City FREE Priority Shipping and they're only $3.15 each set.

The direct link to the parts page is: http://www.servocity.com/Products/Se..._gearsets.html
