Jap Zero

gotta hit the fuselage with a heat gun....was in the car and wrinkled the covering from the heat!

zero is from ak models.....love their models, pricing, and delivery! motor is an axi 2212/26, i installed some "bargain servos" and replaced them with hitek hs55's, the bitterness of poor quality lasts longer than the sweetness of low price! esc is eflight 20 amp, battery will be a 3s tp1320 or common sense 3s 800 depending on the balancing....

"the closer you get to finishing a model the longer it takes"......

well, i finished the hobby lobby YYYAAAAAKKKKKK!
nippy black 1208/180
prop: 10X4.7
lipo: 3S 1320
according to the Emeter, this is what i got;
amps 14.5 WOT static
watts: 145
i didn't check RPM

i'm probably pushing the battery a little at WOT (it got a little warm) but it'll probably never get to WOT because it would rip the wings off! at half throttle, amps were around 8ish.
i know this motor is WAY over kill but it was handy so i thought...aah, what the hell.

BTW, i still feel dirty. foam.....eewww.

maidened the YAAAKKK. this morning. i dropped off the DVII at don's and osborne is sooo close, i thought i might as well.
winds were not in my favor but it went up anyway. i bounced around and did a little trimming. a couple of clicks and it was handling so, so.
rolls and loops at half throttle felt a little sluggish but i think the wind had a part in this.
here's the bad part. i looked down at my Tx for a half second and oops, way too low and crashed. broke the tail off and cracked the fuse where the battery goes. got it home and in ten min. it's ready to be crashed again.
this will not be the only crash it will sustain. i'm sure, once i start to train, it'll get a lot more epoxy.
the one thing that concered me is, the battery was real warm. more so than i'm used too. should i be worried?

I wouldn't worry about drawing too much current from your battery, it will be destroyed in a fiery crash long before you're able to do any over current damage.

that seems like alot of prop for that little foamie. I know I run 8x4s on mine and almost never go over half throttle and battery is never more than a little warm.

No GWS Spitfire for me tomorrow. I ordered a new motor for it and forgot to get a stick mount. I probably could try to fabricate something but I don't feel like trying to reproduce a $2.00 part.
I am bring a new "old-timer" for me. Hint - Fifth Times A Charm

I got the Warp 4 installed on my Overlord. I just have to recover some of the area I had to peel off. I also swapped out the EDP-50 on the PCW with a Johnson 250. The mount is totally ghetto but I hope it'll work. Hopefully I got the thrust angle right.
Winds look favorable for the morning.

Edit - Forgot to add that the Chipmunk and Zero both look awesome.

Hi Guys! Hoping to get this maidened tonight and bring it tomorrow.

Warp 4 motor (5 turn)
8x4 APC E prop
Great planes 38mm Spinner
E-Flite 40A ESC (Thanks Jack!)
Apex 11.1v 2000Mah Lipo
Hitec Electron 6 Rx
(2) Hitec HS-55 Servo's

Should pull around 19-21 amps WOT with the 8x4, but may go with a 7x5 whcih should pull around 16-20 amps WOT (if my shipment from Tower arrives today). I'll have to see which one works better.

Will be bringing my Corsair tomorrow as well. See you all tomorrow!
