Not a Bad Place to Fly

This video made me want to dust off my FPV flying wings and go exploring again. Youtuber lor aerial took his 40" Mini Drak out for some fun in fantastic light and conditions. I have no idea where this is, but I was super jealous watching him fly. It reminds me in parts of the wing suit base jumper guys who fly low and close to mountain sides. I think this would give a similar feeling without all the risk of death and stuff.

Do you have any cool places like to fly your FPV drones or planes?

Used in the Video:

  • Ritewing Mini Drak 40" with Homade coroplast boomer
  • Cobra CP2814-1800 KV with 8x4E Prop
  • Hobbywing Skywalker 60 A ESC
  • 4S Hacker TopFuel Eco-X - LiPo 3800mAh
  • GoPro Hero 6 with ND8 Filter

There is another guy on youtube building his own custom quads for long distance. He does some amazing stuff with them. Almost makes me want to fly quads again but yeah, I agree the wing or plane is better.

Yeah there’s something about it that just makes me prefer planes over quads, but I’m not sure the exact reason why.

It is possible to fly a quad in the manner of a fixed wing aircraft. Most
just choose not to. And sometimes it's just more advantageous to have a quad
for post-rainstorm moutaintop cloud surfing.. like this.

yes - New Zealand!! - beach to mountain to local park

can't do any of that in Auckland
Covid lockdown, never mind the CAA no-fly zones...

Christchurch tho... the Port Hills!! booming slope giding!!

and those first two pics could be Te Mata Peak, Hawkes Bay!

until then, a couple of teasers from Man And Drone -
Northlands of New Zealand -
New Zealand Northlands by Drone (4K) (3 min 35 sec)

New Zealand - The Great Below -
(6 min 16 sec)

I'm from Christchurch, so I'm 'more alpine'; my wife is from north, so 'more beach'
beach is warmer, but alpine is magestic

your first two pics could be PicaSim, my third pic - just add low cloud
