Tiny Radar Displays

We've talked before about available tiny LED screens, like 1 inch wide or even less. But these require assembly of some circuitry and some fair chops with Java or Arduino programming to make it all work.

I just saw that Micromark is offering products from Tiny Circuits (you can also buy direct from TC), like the Tiny TV:
https://tinycircuits.com/products/tinytv-diy-kit

Pricey at $75, but by the time you buy a display and an Arduino and the rest, and invest time in programming, this could be worth it.

Looks like the screen board is about 1-1/4" wide, the image portion may be about 1" (23mm). So it might be a bit oversize for a modern 1:24 free standing flat screen, but it could be built into a bigger display unit.

And it comes with a remote! And its own battery. I'm sure it could be hacked to run off the model's battery.
You create and load your own videos onto the microSD card.

Ah, I just saw that they have Tiny Arcade too:
https://tinycircuits.com/products/tinyarcade
Also capable of displaying your video, and only $60.

I also see that there are a lot of other offerings of ready-to-use micro games, like:https://www.amazon.com/stores/page/4...7-80a046607386
...many in the $20 range. But I have no idea how easy it would be to hack these to just play a radar video...

Ah, here we go: $40 for just a display unit:

Just build your own box for it.

I get the impression, that we would still have to write code to make a radar.
We couldn't just load a gif image or mp4 to display.

Nope! Find or make an MP4, they have a utility to convert to a file to put on the microSD.
Load and run.

Amazing.
So next will be telemetry for your controller and then an actual small scale micro wave to target contacts…..
Real radars!

And next... real little crews to run the boats. LOL. Make sure that they have their passports.

Maybe you could try some mini mp4 players, some have very little screens, and it is far less expensive.

We Did Crew...

I made three crew figures, different heights. The tug skipper had to select
a crewman for his stern deck. The crew figure would hold a magnet up off the deck, and
the skipper had to maneuver his tug to allow the crewman to connect the line to the magnet
hanging down from the tow. Then the tug had to tow the target ship back to the harbor and put it to dock.

Actual working radar on a model might be too much distraction for a lot of skippers.
