newbie on a raptor 50??? needs advise

Am barely learning to fly my shogun but am really pissed with the tail not holding. So am interested in getting the raptor 50. Am choosing between the raptor v2 se50 with engine or without, and the raptor v2 50 only. Is it worth getting the se or the v2 only. and also with or without engine. what do you guys think?????

My Raptor is the V2 50 with the TT50 engine. It flys great. I'm using a Futaba GY401 gyro and it holds very well. If you are just learning I suggest you go the least expensive of the two. I don't have any experience with the SE version so I honestly can't say if it is worth it. The standard V2 will be more than enough for a newbie and will take you well into 3D aerobatics. You can spend the extra $$ on fuel or crash kits

Just my .02 cents.

My kit included the TT50 engine. I used Hitec HS5975 digitals on everything except the tail. My gyro came with a Futaba 9253 for the tail.

This setup has worked great for me but I'm sure others will have different opinions.

sorry Cyper, i Agree with you.

Gt get the standard rappy with the tt motor. Cheap to buy and more importantly, cheap to keep flying. by the time you are ready for more you will know exactly what you want. The 401 gyro is a great idea, well worth the money and i have seen raptors fly on just about any old servo, but if the budget allows get something decent.

hi, i got the kit yesterday without the engine. cause the hobbystore told me the stock engine doesn;t have enough power and wears out quickly. He said i should get the os engine for it.

Enough for what???

The OS engine is a good engine and does have a little more power but if antone tells you the TT doesn"t have enough they are lying or misinformed.

The older R30 with the TT 36 had complaints but the 50 kicks butt!

Maybe the shop just wanted to make a bigger sale. I don't know how much you paid but my 50V2 w/TT 50 & carbon blades was $479. Heliproz sells it for $489 but that includes shipping and no tax if you live out of state.

In anycase you still got a great heli!

I am running the TT50 in my raptor. It has been very good for the $$. I may not be as powerful as my hyper 50 but it has more than enough power for anything i can do.
