Help!

MVVS 2.5 DR Diesel engine Manual

Hi. Im a rookie on Goodyear racing and also on diesels. I bought a new MVVS 2.5 DR (.15 rear intake, rear exhaust, diesel engine made by a prestigious Czech republic manufacturer) wich i was told is a super nice engine for goodyear.

A friend of mine helped me on starting, it started faster than i was expecting, but now i want to read the manual since i suspect, but dont know the proper breaking procedure, since the engine didnt come with manual.

So im looking for a manual or any input or experience on this.

Thank in advance!

I would think these might help. First one is from Adrian Duncan's site. He is an engine man and familiar with diesels and glows:

https://www.adriansmodelaeroengines.....php?cat_id=10

for a conventional iron-steel type cylinder-piston engine.

Or, if it is an ABC engine:

https://www.adriansmodelaeroengines.....php?cat_id=99

then, Progress Aero Works, in England, has been producing diesel engines from a long time ago, and still are. I have several. This has propeller recommendations as well:

https://www.eifflaender.com/engine-instructions

Should get you pointed in the right direction. Also, in the Vintage and Old Timers forum, there is a forum just for diesels, another good place to find out things, possible for your particular engine.

Otherwise, keep us informed of your progress and ask for help as needed.

Thanks a lot for the super complete info. Im uilding a Goldyear, but i receive the kind help of a fist of friends who are dedicated speed junks, all of them with good amount of knowledge in the diesel world. But i always read the manual, always, that is the first thing i do on everything, i feel incomplete until i found it.

Thanks a lot! Will post my advances and the plane design and build.

Sometimes, I can be really slow. I had another look at Duncan's site, and found an article about what looks like your specific engine:

https://www.adriansmodelaeroengines.....php?cat_id=90

Give that a try

I don't think that's the engine he meant.

There was a much later RI MVVS 2.5cc DR Diesel circa mid 1980's. I had one for awhile. Pic of version is attached. The type was famously used by the Greenwood/Needham team to win the UK Nats "British Goodyear" event sometime in the last decade. I believe that they rebuilt the engines with Rossi mk2 p/l.

I don't think that the MVVS "manual" would be much use to you from memory, and it sounds like you are getting good advice from your fellow club members.

If you ask on the British Barton C/L Forum you may get a better response to any questions. Usually MVVS Engines aren't competitive in any serious racing events these days but work just fine in club racing events.

locktite, you are correct. I glossed over his description of "rear intake, rear exhaust".

Sorry about that, Brankommander

If you do get one of the engines I misdirected you to, you'll be set

Thanks for the input, i will ask.

About the engine itself, there is some rules on goodyear racing in southamerica. First you can not use a chrome cylinder engine. Second, you can not use a team racing specific engine, based on the asumption goodyear racing is an entry racing class. That said, all options are vintage engines.

Thanks a lot, will ask and research!
