Maiden A10, Another A10 Stock fly's great! (video)

I'd also had the A10 on the shelf for a year now, So i'd thought 'she was built to fly' lets toss her into the sky tonight.
After trying to start her of the runway 5 times i gave up and decided to hand-launch her.

This is a stock A10 with EDF55 150 motors
7 kan 950's cells
Futaba micro reciever
3 !! Servo's
Kontronik Sun 3000 Esc
Incl landing Gear with normal Wheels so she should be a little heavier than normal.

After hand launch I throttle down to 3/4 to save the engines.

Check it out on http://www.thesarge.nl/a10/Maiden_A10_Stock.wmv

Great video, I love it when people take the time to show that a GWS plane will fly stock with no changes. It lets people know that they can build and fly a plane just as GWS offers it.

great job.

Great video!

Do you happen to know what the AUW is for this plane the way you have it setup? I'm asking because I plan on getting an A-10 but I'm not sure if I want one with the EDF-55's or EDF-50's.

Nice video Sarge. I have about 20 flights on mine, just like yours, stock with the landing gear and I love the way it flys. Very scale looking. I dont know why so many people have problems with this model but I really like it.

I really have no idea what the AUW of this A10 actually is..
Based on experienced it 'feels' a bit heavy and I have not tried at what speed it will stall and so on. Will try that later so landings at a littlebit lower speed will be possible.

I would really recommend the EDF55 instead of the 50's, I presume these 50's will not provide enough thrust for a 'pleasant' flight. Some power left over with the 55's will sometime get in handy if you have to make an overshoot whilst trying to land, just like jets on a aircraft carrier.

Even if possible try to get your hands on the EDF55-300 instead of 150's.
These slightly bigger motors wil be more able to handle the currents on the coils and so on. When I give full throttle and you look at the back-end at the motors you see the motors lit up with sparkles, wich is not very good for a long lifetime of these engines. Thats why I throttle back after start.
Stick to the max voltage for these motors too, or else you will burn 'm up

Watch the CG Steve. I started out with a 2 Cell 2000 and a modified battery compartment to get the battery right forward to achieve the "book" CG. In fact I eventually had her flying with a 1600 2 cell in the normal battery area and I've still got a lot of up elevator trim on - I shall try a 1200 next.

I didn't fit gear on mine but I did quite a bit of re-inforcing of the engine mounts (CF rods and fibreglass cloth because everyone said it was weak spot (which it is). In the event, in my case, it was the front end I bust off but the engines stayed on! See https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=402013

Yes Mr. Lin.

I relocated from a big city to a small local town with a nice litte green stroke in front of my house.

Only 20 steps in front of my house.

Little kids always running out and shouting ooo's and aaah's when I go out flying. Saying "I want one of these !!'

Great choice!

Indeed beware of your CG. Be sure it's exactly right.

Have lots of fun with it, I'm sure you will.
