OVSS Contest in Cincinnati Sept 18 and 19

All,

The OVSS contest in Cincinnati is coming up, two weeks away, September 18 and 19.

Saturday September 18, AMA ALES, using “short tapes” 50 points, -5 per half meter.

Day two, Sunday September 19, F5J “Lite”. See the attachment below from rcgroups awhile back, apologies to the original author. Exception to the attachment is that standard 150 meter cutoffs will be allowed with 10% penalty (150 meters scored as 165 meters). Also, the AMA short tapes. Do note, that moving toward full F5J that you will lose your landing points if you’re over time. Maximum time will be 9:59, so 10:04 and a 50 landing will be scored as 9:59 minutes, no landing points. No telemetry in F5J. It may not be clear in the chart, restarts are allowed, but result in zero flight score.

Seeded man-on-man both days using Gliderscore.

Goal both days, 6 rounds. 8:30 pilots meeting, 9 am first flight. Lunch served.
$20 per day, $35 for the weekend. 8470 Lawrenceburg Rd., Harrison, OH, United States, Ohio
On field camping OK.

Please check this page a day or two before for possible weather issues.

Relaxed fun atmosphere, genuine plastic gold, silver and bronze medallions (pedallions) through 5th each day.

CD Barry Andersen, please post any questions or concerns.

Barry

Conteste update

Weather looks good with temps in the 80s and light wind. The road to the field is in good condition, any expected rain today, Wednesday, should not effect the road.

Some clarifications about the contest. Saturday will be AMA ALES using "short tapes". All other AMA ALES rules will apply.

Sunday will be F5J Lite: this means, ALES limiters will be allowed with a 10% penalty. Landing tapes will be the ALES short tapes. All other F5J rules will apply. Notably, low round will be dropped. At launch, the model must fly straight ahead for 3 seconds. CD has discretion on landing direction. It will be announced at the pilots meeting.

F5J rules and USA Tour rules can be reviewed at http://www.f5j-usa.com

Should be a great contest, please join us.

Contest results OVSS#10

We were very fortunate to have good weather both days for our contests. Saturday had a foggy morning that delayed our start a bit. We were able to get a full six rounds of ALES in with 18 pilots. Three groups of six pilots kept everyone busy. The day turned quite hot with a heat index in the 90s. Light winds and light lift began the day. As the day wore on, strong lift developed. Sunday was F5J Lite, some audio issues caused some small delays but we were able to begin to move to a full F5J event. Sunday also started with light to no wind, and very dead air, lift developed during the day, though sometimes elusive. We stopped the contest after 5 rounds as strong gusty winds developed. Results and pictures posted below.
