What motor could this be?
Got a chance to try out a foam Robbe cub type plane today, span about 50" using a robbe sp600 on 8 cp1700's, DIRECT DRIVE with a 9x6 prop! The end was exposed and was red.
This plane was sold as a kit from Dymond, with the motor and prop especially for this application. My first thought was that the flight would be short and smokey as the motor burned down in the first 30 seconds, but that turned out not to be the case at all.
It actually flew pretty good and very slow, about as fast a Tiger moth. Came down, checked the motor, and it was'nt really even warm.
He let me take a turn with a 7 cell pak. Power was pretty decent. I flew around for about 4-5 minutes, mostly 1/2 stick, including 3 go arounds as the darn thing just would'nt come down. Glider like really.
He put the batts on the charger, and they only took 450 mah!
So, anybody have any idea what kind of robbe sp600 this could be? It ran dd with a 9" prop and not only did'nt overheat, but performed pretty well and used such low current?
I've certainly never heard of such an animal before, but I could definately see some uses for it.
