I've never heard of bearding...

Hurling is one of our national sports and can be absolutely insane.
I'd say nearly everyone in Ireland plays it at one time or another in their youth.

The bearding thing was a bit of a joke, but there was a show here about it. I did play lacrosse for one summer when I was visiting relatives in California. Tough game, but that one looks harder.
