ailerons

My P-51 doesn't seem to very good aileron control. Has anyone found a way to make the movement larger??

Are you sure the push rods are not binding? Many say you need to remove, rub with wet and dry to remove any corrosion then replace after coating them lightly in vaseline, WD 40 or similar lubricant/corrosion inhibitor.

Ailerons

Use the control horn hole closest to the aileron.
Longer servo arm.
Computer radio.

Have you flown it? Doesn't take much aileron movement to make it turn.

$ 2 Upgrade To Metal Gear Servo

After seeing the nice metal gear servoes in my Corsair, and finding out the price of putting in a PKZ1090 (metal gear) instead of a PKZ1080 (plastic gear) is ~ $2. I will be using them when I can, in any spot a PKZ1080 would go.........The P-51 Rudder and Elevator servo would swap out, or just swap if you do not use the rudder much. If you are driving a tail wheel then this is the way to go. Spend the $14 and get the Metal Gear Servo.......Too bad it does not come in a long lead......yet...! for the allerons.

Just got my tail glued in and lipo on charge. As I was looking the P-51 over, I did not like the way the decals were put on, and the rudder seeems a bit loose. Rudder will get a servo, so it will not matter. Like the idea of putting hinges on it.

I've noticed that some of the p51's only come with ailerons.
Particularly the park zone and the art tech 30 inch. In general, do all p51's fly ok without using rudder, or are these designed so they are able to?

I can't speak for the Art Tech, but the PZ P-51 flies perfectly well with no rudder, as long as you are willing to handlaunch and bellyflop. If you decide to add landing gear, you will need to make the rudder functional for ground control.

Is this in general with all planes that have ailerons, or just P-51's?
