Announcing the 2021 Blue Skies over Arizona F3K/e-F3K contest, hosted by the Southwest Soaring Society at the new Silent Wings Ranch in Arizona.

Date: Sat/Sun 6/7 November, 2021.

Traditional F3K and e-F3K planes (aka F5K) are welcome.

Classes

OPEN - any pilot under the age of 60 flying a hand-launch glider (F3K) for the entire contest.

EAGLE - any pilot 60 years or older flying a hand-launch glider (F3K) for the entire contest.

MOTO - any pilot flying a motorized 1.5 meter glider (eF3K, F5K) at least once. A mixed use of motorized and hand-launch gliders is OK.

Contest Format

12 preliminary rounds- 8 rounds Saturday and 4 rounds Sunday that will conclude with 4 rounds of flyoffs on Sunday for the top 30%.

NOTE: e-F3K planes will be fully integrated into the contest and will fly the same tasks as F3K planes. e-F3K planes are to set their AMRT's for a 50m launch cut-off and 5 second motor run. To perform a turnaround, e-F3K pilots may either catch or land their planes.

Eloy has treated us well over the years, but the new site has grass, a ramada with concrete floor, and a permanent porta-potty. RV or tent camping is no problem. And if it were to rain, your rig won’t get stuck.

The city of Maricopa is a 20 minute drive away, with bars, restaurants, and … a casino!

I don't have a good picture of the Ramada, but will follow up.

This year's ryegrass will most likely look the same as last year's.
