New 2 speed tranny spitting metal shavings / dust!

Hi all,

So I've never actually had metal on metal gears before so I just don't know what is 'normal'. The transmission came from China already assembled, I installed it, lubed it, and after running it for < 5 minutes I was scared because there is a decent amount of metal shavings + dust (see pics). Just wondering, I would assume a small amount of this would be normal, but maybe not. What should I be doing?

Thanks

Pretty sure those aren't metal shavings, it's just lube being thrown around

There are definitely metal shavings in there. That much wear is not normal. The first thing you need to check is the gear mesh. If the gear mesh is too tight, that would definitely occur. Also, what kind of lube are you using?
