Introducing Tempest Power Systems

A brand-new line of power system products is now available from Innov8tive Designs, Tempest Power Systems. This new brand offers exceptional quality and performance at prices that make them a great value for any modeler.

The Tempest product line will include 69 different brushless motors, from the tiny 1704 size all the way up to the largest 4130 size, with multiple Kv values available in every size, along with a full line of matching Speed Controllers and SBEC Circuits.

The new Tempest Speed Controllers have already arrived and are available in 9 different sizes from 6-Amp 2-Cell up to 120-Amp 8-Cell. These ESC’s feature a STM 32-Bit MCU with 14 different user settable ESC Parameters. A full featured ESC Programming Card is also available to make ESC programming quick and easy.

Also available now are the new Tempest Switching BEC circuits. The 6-Amp model can take 2 to 8 LiPo cell input voltage and provides a steady 5.5 volts for your receiver and servos. The High Voltage model can accept inputs from 2 to 12 LiPo cells and has a user selectable output that can be set to 5.0, 6.0, 7.4 or 12.0 volts with a jumper. This BEC can handle 10 amps of continuous current and 20 amps of peak current for up to 2 seconds.

If they had a 2.5 volt per cell cutoff for those of us that use 2S A123's they would be useful.

Cobra motors are my go to choice for motors, so I'll be trying out one of these esc's very soon..
I put a high priority on an esc having an adequate bec. Even the little 15A esc has a 4A sbec and can run 4S. Worth a couple of bucks more to me.

New to this whole thing...
Be cautious with these ESCs.

The specs and programming card makes it looks like these are rebranded VGood ESCs, which is also who makes the Turnigy Plush-32.

For what it's worth, my 20A VGood ESCs (which I bought partly because of the 4A SBEC rating) work okay on 2S but "stutters" once I reach half throttle on 3S. The manufacturer suggested using the "EDF" motor type which helped but did not totally resolve the problem.

My Flite-Test and Flycolor ESCs do not show the problem on the same motors.

Others have said their VGood ESCs work fine, so do with the information what you will.

Cautious as in suggesting we don't try to use the 120A-sized esc with a $400 Neu motor on 8s with 155A 5000 watt pulls? Seems like a perfect test to me.

Cautious as in don't spend your money on one of them assuming that it'll actually work the way it's supposed to.
