My newest toy,homemade flying delta

Here is my new flying thing,I don't have a name for it yet.I been working on it for the past 3 days.I flew it maiden flight at 6am this morning then just got back a few ago from flying flight 2 and 3.they was a lot more fun as I wasn't as nervous and could see it as this morning the fog was so bad 20 feet and it was in the fog.

it is a home made,I came up with the dimensions all myself and the balance point and everything.I am using a Himax 2015-4100 motor with a 6.6:1 gear ratio, same as I fly on all my planes.Using a Futaba am 3 channel radio and servos are futaba(not sure of #)a CC 25 Esc,and using from a Poly quest 850 3 cell pack to a TP 1320 3 cell Prolite pack.AUW is 14.0 ounces including the Poly quest 750 pack.

It seems to fly really good, the wind is blowing and I was able to slow it down to just about nothing,it done rolls to the left to the right, inside loops,it will do a outside loop but I don't have much control down so its a huge outside loop.I am happy with it,but I plan on getting a 2025 Himax to put on it in the future.Or if some one one here has another motor you think would fly it really good,I want it to go faster.

Nice. For higher speed you might want to go directdrive instead of geared.

Now of course you are expected to post a picture with dimensions or a plan, and also some further details such as material used (flat plate fanfold?), any strengthening (arow shaft?), and covering (tape?)....

Very nice!!!

Come over to Polk county where I fly - we have greener grass than in Paulding county (ha).

Happy flyin',

I agree... go direct drive, you should able to get some more speed. Not sure of your wing span. I use a graupner speed 400. Only cost 9 dollars. I use a cheap GWS 25 amp speed controller and run with a Kokam 1500 3cell. My little wings will run from 60 to 80 MPH.

it is 24 by 24 counting the elevons.I have brushless motors. So I would want a brushless motor the 400 weighs alot well any brushed motor weigh's to much.
do you have a picture of your wings? what kind are they.

Cheap wing expensive equipment :)

Cheap wing expensive equipment

That is the name of the thread I started last night. It's the newest in my collection. It's my usual design. I just moved the fins to the center and mounted a ducted fan unit on it. Over 100 MPH. I'm going to see if I can tweak out the plane a bit more and get a little more speed.

Well I put a 2025-4200 with 4.4:1 gear ratio on it with a 9x6 APC prop with a TP 1320 prolite pack and now I have a pretty good flying rocket, lol its the fastest thing I have flown electric. It goes really well, all tho the amps are up there and I cant fly for long 10 sec burst of FT and but even at half it moves right around and the Roll rate is incredible.

Not sure I need that much speed LOL,Only if I could get it where I could fly it FT more of the time I get about 7 minutes with about 2 minutes total of that FT and the rest is about half throttle.
I flew it this morning and myfather seems tot hink its doing more then it tested on the ground.I think so also it is really fast.I think its going about 60 or so,Not sure tho and I will never know most likely as I dont know anyone with a rador but,I guess I will have to fly it with the glow planes at the feild and see what kinda driffrence there is.

Hey FoamiesRfun

I had a couple of questions about the dimensions of this plane. So, its 24 long and 24 wide. What are the dimensions of your winglets and your elevons. Also, where the winglets mount, how long is that ? Like 3 or 4 inches ?

Thanks !
