The last couple I have even converted to 'autorotation' with the one way roller bearing fitted to the shaft. Also the plastic clutch melted regularly, I have updated to cut out and slotted from formica electrical board, it worked perfect. Just a few innos. Sold them all to another heli nut case, he probly still got all of them sitting on the shelf. |

That intense look of concentration is indicative of how it was to fly an RC heli back then...
I remember my youth pics (when they involved RC helicopters) also showing a very similar facial expression. |

It took some practice and time to get more relaxed.

Its also the servo's from the time slow and weak (deac anyone? ) If you want to cheat then using modern servo's with fligth controller and all new bearings, shafts and loads of shims spinning modern blades (that have things like a consistent airfoil, and both a equal weight and cg, then these old helies can be made to fly almost as good as a cheap trex clone./ eflite blade. But why would you do that if you can "enjoy" the feeling of have hours of work self destruct if you dare to blink during the flight. .. |

Great action pic of one of mine highly modified "212", with its 'agricultural' cyclic control design, and "auto rotation upgrade", LOL now.

Terrible
actually haven't flown it in years, it was damage in storage and is a mess. If I remember correctly this was pre lipo days and I was lucky to get 20-30 seconds of tail in hover before I crashed or the NiMH battery pack died.. Also might note any crash back in those days, especially with that bird meant lots of time at the bench repairing/replacing components. Remember I had used a FC from an old ikarus piccolo in it.
