It's quite easy to scratch build from plans. you should give it a try. I have 12 models currently flight ready, not one of them is a kit. not one of those airframes cost more than $10 to build. I do have a GWS Corsair, but I haven't finished it because I'm having too much fun building from plans. If you want to try an easy model for your first build, but want something more sexy/sporty than a Cub, try Scotta's GeeBee Model 'D' park racer, here is a link: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=290818

BTW, what possessed you to dig up this old thread? if you have an eye for the Pitts Special, Chris3D created this easy to build version, and it produces a very pleasing outline thats easy to trim and flies great, you really should take a swing at it.
