Help needed selecting power system for F1A conversion.
We are planning to use a set of F1A wings to put together an electric thermal soarer. A while back, I did a similar thing with F1B parts, and it flies well, but half the size of the F1A makes it kind of hard to see at the top.
The F1B, (Wakefield), one was developed for a cross-country marathon event, to be flown from the back of a pickup, and wasn't meant to go high. It has a Astro, geared 010, 11-8 Aeronaut, driven by a 2S,2P Li-ion, 3600 mAh pack, and the flying weight is 14.8 oz. Climb is not at all spectcular, but is adequate.
The F1A, (FAI tow-liner), version will come out at about 21 oz. We would like to use an outrunner, un-geared, and a Lipoly 2-cell pack. Span is about 80 inches, area about 670 sq. in. Suggestions will be welcomed.
