Some did have bad plastic on them. I did replace maybe 5 stick assemblies in my 50+ transmitters. I just buy old Vanguard transmitters on eBay for parts. When I can get a transmitter for under $20 including shipping I grab it. I have plenty of spare parts to fix any ting I need to. I would say that maybe 3-5% of the radios out there might have bad gimbles. The only other problem is with age, the pots get stiff. They need to be cleaned and oiled. Even the old junk I buy on eBay only a small portion has these problems. There were a few junk radios from Airtronics but those were quite obscure. Such were the RD400 radios.
