Thanks, that's useful.
The next size down is a 28-26 - which I believe is 28mm in diameter, the same as a speed400 motor..
https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/s..._1350Kv_/_260W

The comments aren't very reassuring, but I think that's just because the claimed max power is optimistic (260W from what's effectively a double stator cdrom motor?)

The JGF motor has a Kv of 2250, which is similar to the Speed400, but wouldn't a lower Kv and bigger prop be better for a relatively slow flying model like this? Especially as it's for a 3s lipo not a 7cell nicad?

Most problems mentioned on the HK website originate from using the wrong prop size. That being said, how about this motor for 3s and 7x4" props?:

I'd agree about people using too large a prop, but IMHO they were encouraged to do so by the rather optimistic claim that it could handle 260W

Interestingly the TR 28-26B 1350Kv motor was the first one I looked at because I used to have one (my comment is about the 11th in the list) but they're out of stock. It's virtually identical to the one I posted, which is supposed to be slightly higher quality and the same price.

Near Crash

Check out my near-crash! I contribute it to pilot error - flying out of range of my Rx. I've flown further on my older AR6000's, but I don't think the new AR6110e (at least the one I own) has the same range. Brown out occurs around 1:25 into the video. The camera is a Sony Webbie HD.

Glad to hear you got the TS back...though the crash footage would have been interesting. On a side note, it looks like the camera needs to be either a little higher or more forward. The nose blocked out a lot of the ground view.

Has anyone else used these motors and ESC from BP Hobbies? I have used these with great results.

BP A2212-10 Brushless Outrunner Motor and BP 10A Brushless ESC, same pricing, good local support and cheaper shipping than HK.

Nice Video, Glad you got it back.. Sounds like one of your props has a resonate vibration at one particular RPM. You may want to find that throttle position and try to stay out of that range.

The AR6100, 6100e or the new AR6110, 6110e don't have the same range as the old AR6000. That being said, it is rather unusual to regain control at at lower height if it was a range issue. What do you use as power supply for your RC system and what servos are you using?

Here's the latest weekend Twinstar II adventure. It was a beautiful day in Minnesota yesterday! I swapped out my AR6110e with a 6200, and all is better in the world!

I have those motors in mine spinning MA 7x4's and the performance is all I require. You will need bigger ESC's than 10Amps though, 18Amp absolute minimum if it's a quality make. As the BP 20A ones are only 2 dollars more (or the 30A 3 more) get those if you want to use BP's. You'd be wise to fit a UBEC as well.

400 may work... However the 450 is probably too big physically to fit the nacelle.
