J plug or S plug, whats the difference?

I want to take advantage of the hs-55 sale at hobbypeople. What is the difference between an S plug and an H plug on the servos?

The "J" plug has a "key" on the plug so that you can plug it into the futaba receivers with the wires in the correct direction every time. The "S" is the universal plug without the key. If all you can get are the "J" plugs, the key can be removed quickly with a hobby knife. TanicPacks has a picture of the "J" on their website.

One thing nice about modern servos, the wiring is now the same and safer. If you accidentally plug them in backwards, no harm done. Some receivers have the notch for the "J" plug, some don't. It is a simple matter to cut off the tab in this case to get them to fit.

Old Airtronics (black plugs) is the one you need to watch out for as the newer plugs will fit into the older receivers, but the + & - polarity is reversed and the result is a fried servo and possibly receiver. Airtronics makes a special adapter plug for this or you can solder a newer servo lead if you have the ability.
