Programming ESC
Hello,
I have a airplane ( https://www.eclipson-airplanes.com/model-v ), after few flight, I need to remove the landing gear to land on grass. But impossible to program my ESC. I put the throttle gaz at 100% but the ESC emit multi bip( bip, bip, bip, bip ) without music. I need to enable the brake mode. My ESC : http://www.readytosky.com/e_products...-ESC-1222.html Thanks for your help |

Unless you are using a folding prop, setting brake on the ESC will not stop the prop from rotating.

The 'brake' on an ESC simply shorts out the motor winding so it resists motor rotation. The amount of resistance is proportional to the speed of rotation so no rotation = no resistance. The prop will tend to rotate slowly unless you are flying very slowly.
The brake will help in a belly landing simply because with slow rotation there will little inertia in the prop so the first contact with the ground will stop it so preventing it from digging in. Of course if you are unlucky and the prop is in exactly the right position as it hits the ground, a few degrees before the vertical, it may still break. it pays to use the ground effect on a belly landing to get the actual touchdown speed as slow as possible. |
