I have nearly stopped posting in LTUP but a legend passed yesterday. If you don’t know who Col. Thacker was look him up. He was 102 years old and born on the same day and same year as my father who passed 20 years ago. I had the pleasure of knowing him and flying with him for 45 years. He was the definition of the “Greatest Generation”. He is with Betty Jo now.

Quite a man he was...may he RIP.

Always addressed as Col. Thacker. He earned and lived every ounce of respect shown for him.

I never met Col Bob, but he was a legend in local RC community. Funny story, years ago I worked at a cable company and unknown to me behind the counter was his daughter - I knew her last name but that was it. Over a weekend I whacked my finger pretty good and shared that fact with her on Monday morning. She told me her father was also into RC and I asked the obvious - "Your father is Col Bob Thacker?" Yes, he was. From that day forward I treated her as one descended from a god.

RIP, Colonel Thacker. Never met the gentleman, but long knew of him from the hobby and from my time in the USAF.
