Working on the hull.
Sand and grind inside the bulwarks to make the surface smooth and pretty. Sand below that for the deck edge support. Make the first layer of the deck supports... 1/4 x 3/4 filler strips, contoured to fit and sliced for flex in two directions. Glue & clamp those in place, using thickened G-flex... the stuff is thick like peanut butter. Wait 10h for it to set up. But wait, why not punch a hole in this perfectly fine hull? Sure! . |

Sawdust was flying today.
Working on the 2nd layer of deck edge strips and the main beams. The deck edges are carved (on the bandsaw) from bigger chunks, curved in two directions, and/or kerfed for flexibility. Beams are notched into the edges so as to make strong lifting handles, and are cut with a crown (camber). Tomorrow, finish up the beams, I hope. . |

Winch: So it begins...some design work. I now have a simple outline dwg of the winch... a very good start, but much is not shown. And I have a bunch of photos, usually of the whole boat... hard to see winch details, they're obscured or in deep shadows. I have to guess at so much...

You're going to have a whole new market when all the parts are done.

Umi, I'm sure that's a HUGE market!
I need more better progress. Finished laying in the deck opening beams, all notch-fitted again. I haven't decided if it's safe to start gluing these in yet, would be nice to have open access while installing the rudders and prop shafts and motor mounts... but that could be a few weeks from now. And I can't work on the house much until the deck is in place to fit the house to... |
