Hi, Iam a experienced fixed wing pilot and i like to build has well but runny g out of room for any more builds so to pass my time i have started to build the early version of RC Exporers ti-copter. i have no problem building the Tri-copter and was hoping to learn regarding setting up and adjusting for flight. Will be copying a template regarding setting up the Tri-copter but i expect it will need some adjusting. My question is when reading the set up template there is many abbreviations i simply do not understand. Is there a link where it explains each abbreviation.

Post screen shots of all the setup tabs in the flight controller software you are using.

Hi, Thank you for getting back to me. Iam not very good at posting pictures but will try and explain my set up. I have copied rc explorer build with a kk.2.5 fc and have my spectrum receiver channels throttle, air, elev, rudd connected to corresponding channels on the kk.2 . On the right hand side i have LF motor to channel 1, RF motor to channel 2, and tail motor to channel 3. The servo is powered by a 4.8v regulator running from the main flight pack. I have checked all props and all motors for correct direction and i have calibrated all esc,s. Hope this helps.

My kk.2 board has been flashed with a vtol firmware and this is making it difficult to understand how to follow this template regarding setting up the Tri-copter. Is it possible to remove this vtol firmware back to default and then i could follow Rc Explorers tutorial on programming the kk.2.

Sorry buddy. Most tricopter builders / pilots have moved on from the KK boards so information on those is going to be tapping into some memories for an aging population.

Hi, I have the KK2 v1.5 flashed with the Vtol firmware to install in the Vtol explorer. Is it possible to remove this Vtol firmware and go back to the original Kk2 board factory reset. Thank you.

Hi, Having replaced the kk2 board that was flashed with Vtol firmware i went and replaced it with a kk2 board with out the vtol firmware flashed. Unfortunately while trying to program it following Rc explorers video i think it lasted 5mins before the screen went blank and it seems this is a regular occurrence with these boards. Anyway i have spent some time on this diy Tricopter and would dearly love to see it fly so my question is what is the next
FC board i can purchase which is easy to program for a beginner and not over expensive. Thank you for any advice.

After trying numerous times the kk2 board started working and then decided to stop working.

Hi Glenbees,

Are you aware that new (old) KK-boards are still available?
https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/16956...7b2846d64e36-0

I started two years ago with these and still fly them.
As far as I'm concerned the KK-boards are the simplest way to get a tricopter in the air, using David Windestal's video's setting it up.

There are more up to date FC available, but none are tailored to the Tricopter, so you'll have to use what others have written for it.
Just check out this subforum.

I'm staying away from Betaflight & Inav for as long as I can...

Regards, Jan.

Boaters are nice people.
That's unfortunate.
At those prices I usually purchase a few, my mini tri also flies with a KK-board, although it doesn't really fit on the frame (the board is too wide, but I can't find the narrow ones anymore), but it flies very good.

Thank you for your interest in my dilemma. I Allso have a kk.2 board working fine but it is flashed with a firmware so that it can be used with a fixed wing Vtol but not suitable for my Tricopter. I was going to set this kk.2 board back to default but when i try to download the flash tool my mac will not open it.

Hi, Funny you should say that because i asked my niece to try and download on her windows laptop and did succeed in opening the flashtool but did not let her download the firmware for fear of downloading a virus onto her laptop.
