Jürgen, Spoinmaster has been using Epp?EPE blends for almost a decade; Robbe since 98 AFAIK and several others etc. I suspect that the magin "Elapor" is the old Shell Chem stuff that Nova bought in Europe when RDC was getting out of the polymers biz.

No matter - Elapor is great stuff. I just wish they could pump out planes faster and get them here!!

Thanks, I'll try to get the Ian's to fly it more often when I have a camera handy! They are both VERY good pilots, Ian Slack can land anything elegantly on the slope! Mine tend to be barely controlled crashes!

I might see if I can find some Eraser footage to put on the site - air combat maybe....

Cheers

I had to put a bigger speed controller because it is too much for the 30A that I was using.

The plane can now be held in a vertical position, power up and let go - it will accellerate vertically upwards. On 7 cells (GP1100) thats pretty good... I tried 8 and 10 cells but I was worried that the motor mount would pull off the front of the plane.

Prop efficiency gets better the bigger the diameter, it certainly seems to be the case

Has your EG arrived yet?

Regards

Kyri

BA.

Yes that was a very emotional day. Final retirement after 50 years of front line service. The front plane in your pic, the one without tip tanks, is the one in my Avatar.

The average life of a front line fighter plane is 12-15 yrs. The F-104's record makes it the the most successful fighter plane of all time with 2600 built and flown by seven countries, over half a century. And of course it was designed by "Kelly" Johnson.

Cheers. Paddy.

Hi Kyri,

Vertical takeoffs on a sailplane are always impressive

I'm still waiting... Multiplex ran out of elapor,I guess

I just ordered some CPB1150's 8 cell packs in preparation. I'll be using much smaller props (10x6 and 11x7) hoping to preserve the structural integrity of the plane.

Have Fun!
