BetaFPV 85X - what version do i have? and 4S?
Hi,
So i bought a second hand new in box Beta FPV 85X. But i was wondering what version i have ordered. I have added a photo the the box. The reason i am confused is that all the youtube video's seem to fly a black 85X and mine looks white. Also i found this amazon listing: https://www.amazon.com/BETAFPV-Beta8...07MYZHMS6?th=1 That one is also white. And it says it is 4S capable. But in a few video's and online a red that some people have burned out their ESC on 4S. So i dont know what lipo's i should buy now. I have bought this because im a beginner in FPV flying and this drone seems to be able to fly outside with a little breeze and sturdy enough when i hit a tree or something. Can anyone tell me something more about this drone? |

They make it in black or white frame, and yes the fc is 2-4s 12a but to play safe I'd do 2-3s 350/450mah. I used a similar fc on toothpick 3" on 2-3s 350mah and never had a problem while others reports the fc regulator burned out for using 4s.

Check and see what motors you have, 5000kv or 6000kv. The 5000kv are good for 4s. The 6000kv shouldn't be used with 4s, only 3s. The original version came with 6000kv and they updated to 5000kv after having issues on 4s with the 6000kv
As a beginner I would recommend 3s either way, or a throttle curve/limit on 4s. |

Ah thanks for the reply's I ordered some 3S lipo's.
I was wondering. since there is a new HD version. Is it also possible to update the camera of the non HD version to record some nice HD footage? And i dont mean a decased gopro or add an caddix vista (thats way to expensive for me) |

You would need to swap out the cam for an HD unit like the Caddx Turtle or runcam split nano. Your FPV feed is still sd but it will record dvr in hd. I think the beta85x HD has a caddx baby turtle whoop.
Runcam split nano 3 lite Caddx Baby Turtle Whoop |

well first i have to set it up right.
i tried bound it to my X9D taranis but when i hold the quad in my hand and give it some (very little) pitch the motors spool up to the max sometimes but not all the time, sometime it does not do anything at all. i dont understand it. just tried it again, arm motors nothing works. Disarm and rearm again, motors spool up automatically only on low speed. WT F WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY why are they running when i dont give them even any throttle. Even when i set in betaflight the motor stop option they still spool up this is so annoying why does this stuff never work i spend hunderds of dollars into this hobby and i have nothing to fly |

yep, disable airmode. Airmode will override motor stop. Also, motor stop isn't a good idea in most cases (particularly if you want to do any sort of freestyle flying), unless you want it to fall out of the sky every time you hit low throttle. The motors should spin slowly at zero throttle, thats how it can maintain control in the air at zero throttle and not just tumble to the ground.
Sounds like there isnt anything wrong with the quad, you just need to watch some setup videos and figure out what all the basic settings in BF do. Don't let it frustrate you, it has a bit of a learning curve. |

Well i tried all your suggestions and recallibrate the accelerometer. But nothing changed.
Then i thought maybe there is something wrong with the firmware version. So i updated the FC. But i didnt know what type of FC is in it. I tried the MatekF411 and the BetaFPVf411 and i read somewhere a guy said its the MatekF411RX But all did not realy work well and i have the same problem. I found out that if i give it verry little pitch the motors spin up and slowly starting to spin up until max throttle. Then i googled some more and found the site from betafpv here below. I downloaded that HEX file and installed that firmware. And this seems to work. I need to do more testing but i looks like the pitch seem to correlate to my stick movement. http://support.betafpv.com/support/s...a-brushless-fc https://betafpv.freshdesk.com/suppor...o-12a-fc-v2-0- Code:

Ah ok. And is there a way to find out if the firmware im am running now is the right one for my Betafpv 85X FPV ? (non hd non 4k) model?
Form the betafpv website i found this picture, mine is the left i think. It says it has a F405 FC but i have a F411 firmware i think. When flashing there is also a matek F411 and a betafpv F411 FC. Im not sure which one i need. |

take the canopy off and look to se which FC you actually have. Then go look and see what target you should be using.
my guess is its this one.. F4 AIO FC 12A V2 which uses Firmware version: BETAFPVF411 (BEFH) |

If it doesn't have v2.0 on it somewhere than its Firmware version: Betaflight MATEKF411 (MK41) according to RDQs listings (https://www.racedayquads.com/product...iABEgIOWvD_BwE)
