Tamiya

So I needed some 48 pitch pinion gears. I go to A-Main hobbies where I order most of my stuff. I look for pinions as usual. I see Tamiya 48 pitch pinions in the sizes I need. When I get them they don't mesh right with the 48 pitch spur gears on anything I have, mostly Associated and Losi. Also if you put one next to the same size 48 pitch pinions I have, they are way bigger in diameter. What is different about these pinions that I am not aware of?

Tamiya uses 0.6 mod gears, they are not 48P:

'AV" .Is that the difference? I was just looking for a couple of 48 pitch pinions and that't what I saw .
If they are 0.6 mod gears shouldn't they be listed that way? and not 48 pitch.

I can't get into r/c tech sorry

I just searched the product page on AMain and that's definitely a typo on the product listing, those AV pinions are 0.6 mod, pretty good write up here on what AV means:
https://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/ind...ch-for-tamiya/

Your best bet is to stay away from Tamiya gears for any Associated car.

I would recommend Trinity pinions if you want a light weight aluminum pinion:
https://www.amainhobbies.com/trinity...01188?v=995737

This will be the best performing pinion for drag racing

Thanks I have used many Trinity pinions and also Robinson Racing pinions. I was just in too much of a hurry when I ordered the Tamiya ones.

I called A-Main Hobbies. They are marked wrong and they refunded my money and said keep the gears. Can't beat that! If anybody needs them just pay shipping and you can have them. 22,23,24,25. I'm not sure the set screws are all there.

thank you Bill
