New Build Help!! (ZD850)

Hey guys! I'm very exciting because i'm building my first "heavy lift" hexacopter! I'm using a pixhawk 4 (also my first build with this fc) and also got a pretty good deal on DJI's 4114 320kv motors that's why i wanted to have a go

I'm building it from scratch, already got the frame and motors assembled, did half setup on the fc, put a receiver i had laying around and put some orientation LEDS on each arm

The frame seems to be stiff and have lots of space to assemble things and stuff.

Now, my concern is the ESCS....

I had 4 brand new Razor32 V2 35A BL_32 3-6S DShot1200 Brushless ESC laying around from my fpv 5inch drones, i wanted to use them, but after plug in a 6s lipo they heat too much, and then i saw some reviews and people say they are really only rated for 5S besides im using a cap on each one. So think i need to abort this ESCS , besides, is it 35A sufficient for a 5-6 KG multirotor and 320kv 4114 motors on a 16inch prop??

I'm thinking of buying theese: HGLRC T-Rex 60AMP 60A BLHeli_32 3-6S ESC Dshot1200 ( https://www.banggood.com/HGLRC-T-Rex...r_warehouse=CN ) -> Will this be suited for this kind of motors and payload?? Remembering i'm using 16inch propellers

I'm posting some pics and uploading the post as soon as im working on this little beast pixhawk is not already glued to the frame as i still may need to move things around. All those escs cables may go away as im replacing this actual escs that are inside the boom arms (razor32 35a blheli32)

Let me see what you guys think. i'm excited to build this!

Thanks in advance!

Should be no problem with 35A (rated for 6S) esc's

Max 360W, so 360/22.2 = 16.2A.
Do bench testing if you have power meter.
- ≤16A at full throttle with 16" prop = OK
- >16A at full throttle with 16" prop = use smaller prop

Thank you! Although i connected this Razor32 and they heat too much just idling so i think they are not rated for 6s. I ordered some hobbywing Xrotor 40A waiting to theese to arrive so i can proceed.

Now i want to connect a servo to have some tilt on fpv cam, i connected a servo to channel 7 on the PM07 , and supplied 5V to channel 1 to power the rail, but i cant get the servo to work!!! On mission planner i can move the pot and my reciever recognizes it on channel 7 and it moves too, but servo does not!! Any help? What can i do ?

Im using a matek PDB with regulated 5V output to power the servo rail.

Thank you!

Xrotor 40A, good ESC!

I use old Pixhawk and really old APM, don't have newer Pixhawk.
I forgot about the MP settings, almost 3 years since my last build with pixhawk.
I don't have MP in my PC right now, so cannot help you much.

But, what exactly your servo? analog or digital? 5V?
Try another AUX, check ground & supply voltage from BEC, somewhere in complete parameter list you should find parameters to control the servo.

I'm really struggling with this!!

I have it plugged on pin 7 of the PM07 i can see on channel 7 of radio settings it moves as i move the pot on my taranis..

I have on pin 1 plugged a 5V supply + and - no signal just to power the rail

I measured 5v from the connector to the rail, im using a matek pdb with 5v out to power it

The only thing i done was swap the i/o pwm out and fmu pwm out cables and i got something the servo moved a bit when i plugged the lipo, but that was all i got...

dunno what it can be

I'm excited to hear how this build goes. I'm hoping to build a "heavy lift" Hex of my own. I want to be able to lift a 3-4 pound High Altitude Balloon payload box to 400 feet for drop testing. Do you think your configuration could handle that?

Use bigger motor, my suggestion => 5208 (300-350kv), 17-18" propeller, 6S battery.
Each motor + prop combo can generate 1-1,2kg thrust at 50% throttle,

Lets say: using DYS BE5208 with 17" prop (check my test here: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=601401)
50% throttle = 1100g X 6 = 6600g AUW

Quick calculation:

- Frame = 1000g
- Motor + Prop + ESC = 275g X 6 = 1650g
- Electronics + Wires + etc.. = 300g
- Battery 15Ah 6S = 2000g

Total = 4950g

So you can lift 6600 - 4650 = 1650g (3.6 pound)

DYS BE5208-330kv test video with 17" 6S:

DYS BE5208 330kv Brushless Motor Thrust Test 6S 1755 (2 min 37 sec)

or use 5008 motor, test video of MC5008-335kv with 17" 6S:

FPV Model MC-5008 335kv - Brushless Motor Thrust Test - 6S CF-1755 (9 min 19 sec)

both motors capable to swing 18" props if more thrust needed.

Hey, I've been two months away from this build, waiting for the escs to arrive and doing other stuff, so i'm strggling again, i want to use the PM07 FMU PWM OUT outputs to connect my escs signal connector (i dont want to cut it and wanted to use the connector) did it so forth and connected motor 1-6 on the pwm outputs, but i don't get anything from esc signal on qgroundcontrol. i have it all bind and channels working correctly, but no pwm signals.... Should it need a remap?? Is it really possible to use the PM07 FMU pwm out to plug the ESCS signal connector in ?? I'm using Hobbywing xrotor 30A, i could use the esc signal motor pads on the pdb but didnt want to cut the connector off the escs... Is there any way i can use it with the connector?

Dont forget if your using dshot you have to use aux outputs instead of regular ones. I built this frame and used 55a favourite blheli32 escs and 1555 props. Thing has so much power its ridiculous.
