Currently approved motors Brand Model Description AquaCraft AQUG7000 L36/56 7.2-18V – 6 pole brushless Himax HB3630 1500 brushless – 6 pole brushless ProBoat PRB3310 A3630-1500 – 6 pole brushless DYNM3835 A3630-1500kv – 6 pole brushless, water cooled, marine motor I used the Aquacraft for no other reason than it seemed like a lot of other people have used it. Note per NAMBA rules, the voltage range allows is between 10.1 to 15 Volts. 4S gets you right up to that limit. You need to be thinking about a marine motor that is or can be water cooled. The rudder you will be buying is configured for water pick-up that is routed through the engine and marine ESC water jackets. It is necessary to keep things from over heating since there is no air circulation. I really like the wire drive that I used and will use the same in my next build. As you build this you need to decide if you want this to run clockwise or counter clockwise (turn left or turn right) and that will determine where you mount things and which way the prop needs to spin. What year and/or master hull number this? Mike |

Skinning the second sponson seems to have come out better. I think I've got my driveline sorted, I've got some help from a local boat shop owner which has been great. I won't get that for a couple of weeks, so I think I might move on to the cowel.
Does anyone know of a good tutorial on fibreglassing? I wouldn't mind having a go at making a plug and molding it out of fiberglass. |

OK I'm back!! I have been working on the plug here or there, but I've finally placed my order for all the running gear so I can get stuck back into the hull.
I have ordered: 3/16 -60mm deep strut 3/16 flex cable/stuffing tube/Teflon liner/thrust bearing/drive dog 115mm dual pick up rudder SSS 4092 1650kV motor Cooler Mount (Carbon because cool) Servo, mount and rod I'll still need to get the ESC and a received along with a turn fin (couldn't figure out which size to get) but this is enough to get the hull built. Exciting times!! |

Finding time is tough lately. I changed tac and bought a 4S setup after getting a bit of a bum steer.
Trying to mount up the motor and driveline at the moment. I'm trying to get it as far forward as possible. This isn't the traditional method for this mount, but since it's got a tunnel this will allow me to mount it out of the tunnel but use the tunnel for the motor to sit down in. How does the angle for the stuffing tube look? |
